Government Fixes Groundnut Price at D38,000, Grants NFSPMC Exclusive Buying Rights

The Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Food Security wishes to inform the general public, particularly the farming community, that the 2025/2026 Groundnut Trade Season will commence on 1st December 2025 and conclude on 31st March 2026.

The Government of The Gambia further announces that the purchase price of groundnut for the 2025/2026 season is set at GMD 38,000 per metric tonne.

In line with the recent Cabinet decision dated 27th November 2025, the National Food Security Processing and Marketing Corporation (NFSPMC) has been granted exclusive rights to purchase and export groundnuts during the first three months of the trade season.

Accordingly, the Government hereby prohibits the buying and exportation of groundnuts by any business or private entity during this period, except those authorised and licensed by the Honourable Minister of Agriculture.

By copy of this press release, the security services and all relevant authorities are urged to strictly enforce this directive.
