Manjang Cham Visa Fraud Case: Visa Buyers Signed Documents Without Full Understanding
Magistrate A. Manneh of the Kanifing Magistrate Court heard testimony from a witness, Muhammed Sallah, who stated that he paid D100,000 to Manjang Cham and signed documents without being aware of their content. Cham is currently facing charges of visa fraud, accused of deceiving approximately 23 individuals by promising to secure visas for them.

Five Former GPU Presidents Raise Alarm on Gov’t Accreditation and Regulation Plans
Five former presidents of the Gambia Press Union have issued a warning on the government’s plans to introduce state-controlled registration and accreditation of journalists through the National Press Accreditation Policy and the Broadcasting and Online Content Regulations, 2025.
The former presidents argue that this will empower executive discretion and plunge the country back into the dark days of permission-based journalism.

The multi-million dalasi visa fraud case resumed in late February 2026 before Magistrate A. Manneh at the Kanifing Magistrate Court, with fresh testimony detailing how the accused, Manjang Cham, obtained D100,000 from one of his 23 alleged victims.
Cham is alleged to have fraudulently obtained over D3 million from 23 people in exchange for visas to Canada and Spain and could be sentenced to over 60 years in prison if found guilty of obtaining money by false pretence.
