Information Ministry Announces Redeployments in Foreign Service and Maritime Admin

Press Release: Immediate Redeployments in the Foreign Service and Key Administrative Changes in the Gambia Maritime Administration
Banjul, 6th August 2025 - The Ministry of Information, Media and Broadcasting Services hereby informs the general public of the following redeployments and administrative decisions made by His Excellency, President Adama Barrow, in line with his constitutional and statutory powers.
Redeployments within the Foreign Service
With immediate effect, the following diplomatic redeployments have been effected:
• HE Mr. Foday Malang, Ambassador of the Republic of The Gambia to the State of Qatar, has been redeployed as Ambassador of the Republic of The Gambia to the Kingdom of Morocco.
• HE Mr. Omar Jah, Ambassador-Designate of the Republic of The Gambia to the Kingdom of Morocco, has been redeployed as Ambassador of the Republic of The Gambia to the State of Qatar.
These changes are aimed at strengthening the Republic of The Gambia’s diplomatic engagements and further enhancing bilateral relations with strategic partner countries.
Changes within the Gambia Maritime Administration
Pursuant to the powers vested in him under the Gambia Maritime Administration Act of 2006, His Excellency President Adama Barrow has effected the following changes within the Gambia Maritime Administration, effective 4th August 2025:
• The services of Mr. Karamo Janneh as Director of the Gambia Maritime Administration have been terminated.
The Government of The Gambia remains committed to ensuring efficiency, professionalism, and accountability in the administration of public institutions and the delivery of public services.
