BANJUL, THE GAMBIA, 5 December 2025 – The Gambia Reparations Commission, mandated to facilitate reparations for victims who suffered human rights violations between July 1994 and January 2017, wishes to inform the public that it is currently inviting victims and members of victims’ groups to register with the Commission.
If you are a victim or belong to a group of victims of violations committed during the stipulated period, you are invited to contact the Commission via telephone on +220 7200044 or 3434688 or email at info@reparationsgm.com to register.
To complete the registration process, you will need:
● A valid identification document
● Your bank account or or Wave details
● Any documents from the Truth, Reconciliation and Reparations Commission (TRRC) if you previously gave a statement.
As the Commission plans to start compensation payments soon, victims or victim groups are urged to contact the Commission to register and confirm their eligibility for reparations as soon as possible.
Given the volume of victims that will be compensated, the Commission wishes to emphasise that payments will be disbursed by year of violation, starting from 1994. Members of the public are therefore encouraged to support their family and community members to complete the registration process.
The Commission reaffirms its commitment to restore dignity and transformative reparations to all victims.
