Hon. Sallah Recommends Dissolving Legislature if They Fail to Take Ownership of Constitution
Former Parliamentarian for Serrekunda, Hon. Halifa Sallah, the leader of the People’s Democratic Organisation for Independence and Socialism (PDOIS), held a press conference on the 8th of January 2025 urging members of the Sixth Legislature to take ownership of the Constitution Building process and to “axe” and “mould” the Constitution into a bill fit for purpose. Minority Leader: Int’l IDEA Constitution Talks Delayed 2024 Draft Constitution in Parliament
The Minority Leader of the 6th Legislature revealed that Constitution Talks with International IDEA's Dr Ibn Chambas led to the 2024 Draft Constitution being delayed in Parliament. Instead of 27th November, the First Reading will now take place on 23rd December 20204. More in the report.

The 2024 Draft Constitution will no longer hold it’s second reading in December 2024 according to Parliament’s Revised Agenda. The Gambia’s Minister for Justice, Hon. Dawda A. Jallow is set to table “The Constitution of the Republic of The Gambia” on Monday 14th September 2020 before the National Assembly for the first reading. According to the National Assembly’s Agenda for the “third ordinary session of the National Assembly in the 2020 Legislative Year”.
