Sombre Buba Jallow Appears Before Bundung Court in Ebrima Njie Murder Case
Buba Jallow, a car mechanic accused of fatally stabbing Ebrima Njie in Latrikunda German, has alleged that he was denied access to fresh air and prescribed medication while being held at Mile 2 Central Prison. At his first hearing Jallow hurled insults and showed his middle fingers to onlookers at the court.
After spending some time in Mile 2 his mood changed completely as he refrained from abusing onlookers and complained to Justice I. Janneh about his treatment in remand.

Supreme Court Declares Auditor General's Removal Unconstitutional, Awards D4 Million in Compensation
The Gambia’s Supreme Court ruled on Tuesday, 7th July 2026, that the forceful removal of Auditor General Modou Ceesay from office back in September 2025 was unconstitutional but stopped short of reinstating him back into office. The ruling also saw the former Auditor General awarded a compensation of D4 million, with his outstanding salary, allowances, pension, and gratuity to be paid to him until the end of his tenure.

Environment Minister’s D50 Million Defamation Lawsuit Against Journalist Manneh Adjourned to End of June
The High Court Annex in Banjul on Monday adjourned Environment Minister Rohey John Manjang's D50 million defamation lawsuit against investigative journalist Kebba Ansu Manneh to 23rd June 2026.
The adjournment followed the absence of defence counsel, who informed the court through a letter that he was unwell and unable to attend proceedings. However, the court noted that no medical certificate or supporting documentation was provided to substantiate the claim.

The multi-million dalasi visa fraud case resumed in late February 2026 before Magistrate A. Manneh at the Kanifing Magistrate Court, with fresh testimony detailing how the accused, Manjang Cham, obtained D100,000 from one of his 23 alleged victims.
Cham is alleged to have fraudulently obtained over D3 million from 23 people in exchange for visas to Canada and Spain and could be sentenced to over 60 years in prison if found guilty of obtaining money by false pretence.
